What is AC supply and DC supply.

What is AC supply and DC supply

There are mainly two types of Electric supply

1.            AC

2.            DC

Electricity is generated in the form of AC(alternating) at generating station/ power station.

But what is mean by AC supply ?

AC Supply :

The quantity which changes its value as well as direction (polarity changes positive to negative) continuously with respect time that is called as AC supply.

AC means Alternating Current .  Polarity of AC supply is continuously changes.

AC supply can produced magnetic fluxes whenever current flowing through conductor. This nature of AC supply makes it very very useful.

AC supply is further converted into DC by using filters in order to used for various electronics and other application.

AC can not be stored in batteries.

AC supply have frequency of 50 Hertz.

The machines which are operate on AC supply that  machine are called as AC machines.

AC machines are : AC Motor, Generator and Transformer we see this in details in another blog.

Now we know about AC supply let understand what is DC supply.

3.     DC Supply  :

The supply(current) which does not change its polarity (direction) that is called as DC (current) supply. DC means Direct Current.

DC can be pure DC or pulsating DC.

DC can be stored in batteries.

DC supply has zero frequency.

The machines which are operate on DC supply that are called as DC machines.

E.g. DC motor and DC generator.

Construction and working of Repulsion Type Moving Iron Voltmeter and dynamometer type wattmeter

Repulsion type Moving Iron instruments and Dynamometer type wattmeter 1. Construction and working of  Repulsion Type Moving Iron Voltmeter/Instruments. Construction : One variation of moving iron instrument is repulsion type instrument. Here we keep the shaft of the moving system along the axis of the coil. We attach a soft iron bar or rod to the shaft so that it can move with the movement of the moving system. We fix another soft iron bar or rod with the inner coil body as shown. When there is no current in the coil, both iron bars are nearest to each other. Working : The current in the coil produces the magnetic field. The magnetic field induces same magnetic poles to similar ends in both of the iron bars or rods. Naturally, these two iron bars repel each other. The repulsive force causes the deflection of the pointer attached to the moving system. This is because due to the repulsive force, the bar attached to the moving system tries to go away from the bar fixed to the inner co...

WORKING AND CONSTRUCTION OF BLDC MOTOR

ABSTRACT Electric vehicles are the best solution for green transportation due to their high efficiency and zero greenhouse gas emissions. Various electric motors have been used as the propulsion system of electric vehicles. Performance of brushed Direct Current (DC) motors, induction motors, switched reluctance motors, and permanent magnet Brushless DC (BLDC) motors are compared according to the in-wheel motor technology requirements under normal and critical conditions through simulation. This study shows that BLDC motors are the most suitable electric motor for the high-performance electric vehicles. An accurate model of a BLDC motor is needed to investigate the motor performance for different control algorithms. Therefore a BLDC motor with an ideal back-Electro Motive Force (EMF) voltage and its control drive are modelled in Simulink. Correct performance of the BLDC motor drive model is validated through experimental data. Direct torque control technique is a type of flux ...

What is electricity ?

What is electricity  ? Electricity is nothing but energy. We know that energy neither be created nor be destroyed only it can converted into one form to other form . Before invasion of electricity there is only mechanical energy present. therefore all work are done by using mechanical machines but efficiency of mechanical machines is too low. Electricity was discovered by Benjamin Franklin in 1752. After that Michael  Faraday discovered the device that convert Mechanical energy into Electrical energy that is called generator this is one of the great invasion of faraday. before discovery of electricity work was done by mechanical energy e.g. steam engine, fuel engine etc. But know electrical devices replacing mechanical devices. Main parameters of electrical  system are current, voltage and power. Electric Charge :  In easy word, we know that every element made up of atom and atom contains protons & electrons. when electric supply given to any wire or conductor el...
